Stop Diarrhea With Rice Water – Rice water, which is made by cooking rice (not the instant kind) in TWICE as much water as called for, then straining after cooking to separate the rice from the excess water, is loaded with soluble fiber. This soluble fiber forms a gel in our digestive tract, and acts like a sponge by attracting and soaking up water in our intestines and bulking up our stool. This remedy is so effective it is widely used in the pediatric wards of hospitals. Drink 8 ounces, with a pinch of sea salt to replace lost electrolytes, every 2-4 hours until condition stops.
Unplug Constipation With Apple Cider Vinegar – On the opposite end of things, if instead of being unable to stop going to the bathroom, you are having trouble going in the first place, then turn to apple cider vinegar for fast relief. As we age, the amount of digestive acid in our stomach declines, making it gradually more difficult to break-up and assimilate the food we eat. Drinking a glass of warm water with 1-2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar (never consume white vinegar) 15-30 minutes before a meal, stimulates the flow of our digestive juices, making digestion smoother and elimination regular.
Prevent Gas With Pineapple – If you suffer from chronic gas, especially after meals, then you need to make pineapple your regular after-meal dessert. Eating a large slice of fresh pineapple, or drinking 1 cup of pineapple juice after meals, will quiet that embarrassing gas. Pineapple contains a digestive enzyme called bromelain, which helps break down food faster, thus reduces gas buildup. Additionally, the anti-inflammatory properties of pineapple are quite effective at soothing and calming the digestive tract, making it a healing digestive tonic.
