Hot Toddy Cold and Flu Remedy

If you are sitting and reading this while engulfed in cold or flu misery, then this tried-and-true liquid elixir just might be your salvation for relief, not to mention a good night’s sleep.

The true origins of the liquid health elixir known as the Hot Toddy, is rather skewed.  The three most rumored countries of it’s origin are England, Scotland and Ireland.  The most popular timeline estimates it’s regular use as a health tonic, to be in the early 1700’s.

The Basic Hot Toddy Recipe

Boiling Water

Black Tea

1 Tbsp Raw Honey

2 shots of Brandy

1 fresh lemon slice

Pour fresh boiling water into a large mug with a black tea bag, filling 3/4 of the way full.  Steep tea for a minimum of 3-5 minutes.  Remove tea bag, and add the honey, brandy and lemon.

For full beneficial properties to be enjoyed, be sure to only use RAW honey and FRESH lemon.

Cold and Flu Symptoms Relieved By A Hot Toddy

* Soothes a sore throat.

* Quiets a cough and itching throat.

* Raises body temperature, which results in a great boost to your immune system, as well as aids in sweating out toxins.

* Relieves body aches.

* Loosens mucous, so that it can be expelled.

* Aids in providing a good night’s rest, which is vital for healing.

It is best to sip your Hot Toddy as quickly as possible, and as warm as possible.  Drinking 2-3 mugs of Hot Toddy spaced 2-3 hours a part, can reduce cold symptoms dramatically within 24 hours.  The sooner you drink your Hot Toddies, the quicker the relief.

Remember, please don’t drink those Hot Toddies and drive.
